Introducción

Bienvenidos, mi nombre es Nicolás Flores Zúñiga y este es mi Blog. El presente Blog contiene los distintos textos que trabajamos en las clases de Composición creativa y Lectura y composición a lo largo del semestre.En estos dos cursos se nos enseñó a desarrollar diferentes tipos de textos tanto como en el idioma ingles y el idioma español, lo que nos sirvió para mejorar nuestra escritura y poder escribir con mayor facilidad textos en general. En el curso de Composición creativa se desarrollaron  diferentes textos como por ejemplo textos descriptivos en la cual describimos a un compañero y un retrato, un texto narrativo sobre una anécdota nuestra y finalmente la presentación de nuevo material llamado grafeno a través de un texto expositivo, utilizando los métodos enseñados en el curso. En general trabajamos con diferentes tipos de textos que sirvieron para mejorar nuestra habilidad para formular textos y la forma en que los presentaremos frente a un público.

Welcome, my name is Nicolas Flores Zuñiga and this is my blog. This blog contain all the paragraphs that we worked in “creative composition and reading and composition” classes throughout the semester

These two courses were taught to develop different types of texts as well as in the English language and the Spanish language, which helped us to improve our writing and make easier to write texts in general. In Reading and composition classes we wrote different type of paragraphs like descriptive text of people, videos, pictures and places. Narrative texts where we had to write about my favorite season, etc.

In general we wrote a lot of paragraph and drafts that helped us to improve our writing.

Conclusión

 Este curso me ayudo a mejorar bastante mi escritura con respecto a la descripción ya que no tenía claro los pasos a seguir para describir una persona, lugar u objeto. También me ayudo bastante el texto expositivo del grafeno ya que aprendí a buscar información que refuerce una tesis, como citar, y como es en sí un texto expositivo.

En general el curso de composición creativa me ayudo a mejorar bastante mi escritura en el área del ingles ya que aprendí los diferentes pasos a seguir en la escritura. El curso fue de gran ayuda para mejorar mi forma de pensar y de ver la escritura como una herramienta muy importante para la comunicación.

Reflection:

This course helped me to write in a better way the different paragraphs that we had seen in classes. At the beginning was difficult because I didn't know anything about the rules to write text, but when I learned the writing process, the punctuation, and the independent and dependant clauses that improved my writing very fast. This course helped me to improve my punctuation in Spanish. This course was very helpful to me because before I was afraid to write in English but now I love to write paragraphs in English

Texto Grafeno:

“El material del futuro”

El grafeno es uno de los últimos descubrimientos que ha revolucionado al mundo. Como ya se sabe, estamos en una época en donde la tecnología y la ciencia forman parte de nuestro diario vivir. Artefactos como celulares, televisores, rayos láser, etc. Hacen que nuestra vida sea más fácil y  rápida. Ahora con la llegada del grafeno no solo hará más fácil nuestras vidas sino que mejorara muchos de los artefactos eléctricos y científicos que tenemos hoy en día.

En relación con el medio ambiente, Investigadores del Instituto de Materiales de la Universidad de Deakin en Australia, han conseguido desarrollar grafeno blanco, capaces de adsorber en su superficie compuestos contaminantes, tales como aceites, solventes orgánicos o incluso colorantes. ¹ “La eliminación eficaz de aceites, disolventes orgánicos y tintes del agua es de significativa importancia mundial para la protección del medio ambiente y de las fuentes del agua”, dijo el Dr. Wei Wei Lei, Becario postdoctoral de la Universidad Deakin.

En otras palabras el grafeno adsorberá mayor cantidad de contaminantes que los procesos convencionales que se usan hoy en día tales como la combustión, el uso de dispersantes químicos, etc. Y ayudara a la protección del medio ambiente, como en este caso, el mar.

En cuanto a la tecnología, muchos artefactos electrónicos de hoy en día son frágiles y al caerse sufren algún daño en su entorno o interior. La flexibilidad y resistencia del grafeno llegan a cambiar dichos artefactos, por unos más duraderos, transparentes y flexibles. Por ejemplo el teléfono móvil podría ser una especie de lámina de plástico transparente, flexible y despegable, de forma que podamos,  llevarla en el bolsillo. ¹ “Los primeros prototipos de papel electrónico estarán disponibles en 2015, inaugurando toda una revolución en el campo de la electrónica.” Konstantin Novoselov, 2004.

Por lo que respecta a los Investigadores del Instituto de Tecnología de Massachusets creen que el grafeno permite el flujo real del agua, evita por completo que se filtre la sal y tiene una permeabilidad mucho mayor en comparación a la ósmosis inversa. Y todo ello mucho más rápido que con las técnicas actuales.

“Los nanoporos de grafeno pueden filtrar la sal del agua a una velocidad de 2 a 3 veces mayor que la mejor tecnología de desalinización comercial que existe en la actualidad” dice Jeffrey C. Grossman, del MIT (Instituto Tecnológico de Massachuset), es decir, el agua marina podrá ser convertida en agua potable y podrá ser usada diariamente.

En cuanto a la energía solar, los científicos de la Universidad de Manchester usaron placas de grafeno con capas de otros materiales para crear superficies energizadas por el sol. Las superficies creadas son delgadas y flexibles, capaces de absorber luz solar y generar electricidad a un ritmo similar al de los paneles solares existentes. El material podría utilizarse como pintura para recubrir edificios, y generar energía para ser utilizada por los mismos. Además el material tendría otras funciones, como la posibilidad de cambiar de color. ¹"Lo que hemos estado haciendo es poner diferentes capas de materiales, una sobre la otra, y lo que obtienes es un nuevo tipo de material con un grupo único de propiedades", explicó uno de los descubridores del grafeno y ganador del Nobel, Kostya Novoselov.

Referente al mundo del deporte de alta competición, el tenista Novak Djokovic el pasado 7 de Noviembre de 2012 en la Copa Masters exhibió su raqueta de tenis Head G (fabricada con grafeno). Esta raqueta tiene un mejor reparto de peso y ayuda a que el tenista logre mayor potencia de golpeo al mismo tiempo que éste emplea un menor esfuerzo en cada golpe. Investigadora de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid dice ¹“El grafeno es ultraligero y ultrarresistente y la combinación de ambas cualidades lo hacen el material ideal para multitud de deportes de alto rendimiento”

En conclusión el grafeno es un material que llegara a revolucionar el  mundo  en diferentes tipos de aspectos tales como en la contaminación, en el uso de energía limpia y pura como la energía solar, la mejora de los artefactos tecnológicos,  el mundo del deporte, la purificación del agua marina para el consumo, y una infinidad de otras nuevas funciones que llegara a mejor nuestro diario vivir.

En reflexión el grafeno es un material muy interesante por sus cualidades y sus futuras funciones en los distintos ámbitos de la vida cotidiana y por eso es un material de gran interés para científicos. Provoca una gran curiosidad y ansiedad saber todo con respecto al grafeno, el descubrimiento que ha llegado a revolucionar el mundo y que quizás pronto este en nuestros hogares. 

Pingu's Family Celebrate Christmas

Christmas is coming and everybody is preparing for the celebration. The two little penguins of the Pingui family are seeing a picture of the Christmas tree and thinking in the beautiful things of Christmas. Pingui mom is cooking some delicious cookies for her family and her little children are helping her painting the cookies with yellow; is a fun day and everybody are happy. Cookies are ready and little children want to eat it but mom doesn't let them to eat them; Dad arrives with a small present and the two little penguins jump and shout to his dad to open the present but dad doesn’t want to open because is for Christmas night. Pingui Dad wants to eat a cookie but Pingui mom doesn’t let him eat it so Pingui dad takes away  his  children to buy a Christmas tree. In the store is a variety of Christmas trees, they buy a medium one and return home. Mom waits to Pingui dad to decorate the Christmas tree. When they arrive penguin mother run to the penguin dad to decorate the tree and when she run to him she trips over with a rope, so penguin dad put angry and star to shout to penguin mom and the star to fight; the two little penguins see them and they star to cry, so their parents stop fight and they kiss each other. The hours pass and all the members of the family are preparing for Christmas night; Christmas trees is ready and everybody is in family singing and loving each others. Pingui family open their presents and sing together…It is a beautiful night for everyone.

Reflection: This paragraph was difficult to write it because I had to see a video and write everything that happened in it, and it was difficult to write the minimal details or the history  with all the details of every scene. I learned to write a description of a video and to see every detail very carefully.

Summer time

Text 1:

Summer is the nicest season of the year. I love summer because there is so much free time to do the entire thing that I want. When I walk by the beach I enjoy listening the sound of the waves and feeling the pleasant sea breeze; also I can feel the sun burning my skin and smell the scent of the sea. I enjoy walking along the beach and feel all those things, and when I travel to the south of Chile is very different than North, because I can see the beautiful, green nature and smell the different scent from the trees and flowers;  the sound changes birdsong and is more comfortable for the ears. I like walking so I see a new world within the forest, wild animals, beautiful flowers, big trees, etc. It’s wonderful, and I love it. My favorite season, I really love summer.

Text 2:

Summer, time of fun and relaxation. I really enjoy summer time because I can do all the things that I like. One of my favorite activities is to go to the beach and swim with my brother or my friends in the big waves, and other activities that I can do in the beach are to play soccer or volleyball and drink ice cream. I love playing those sport and drinking ice creams. I really enjoy Christmas time because I travel to Calama or Temuco with my family and us past the Christmas night with the whole family; everybody are happy and it is a wonderful night. It is the only month that I can see them all together. We like to travel to other cities so in February we start with the trip. It is very interesting to travel a lot because I see different lifestyles and cultures. In the south of Chile I work picking strawberries or harvesting wheat, I love working in those work because it is an activity that I can’t do in the big city. Summer is time to do all the things that you can’t do in other season. I really enjoy summer time.

Text 3:

When I think in summer I always remember a Christmas night where we were in Calama with the whole family. We were 27 members of the family together and everybody was happy.  I remember that night because my father was Santa Claus so he brought a lot of presents; presents that everybody bought. The midnight came and was time to open all the presents so my father took a chair and sat in it and started to call all the members that had a present. Was a very fun moment because all my uncles had to sit in the knees of my father like little kids and had to smile to the photo. Everybody was laughing. Was a wonderful night.  Another special day was a “New Year night “when I went out to the streets to distribute coffee with my friends to the indigents. We started distributing coffee in “El Morro” up to “Baquedano” and when we were there we saw a very big group of those “brothers” celebrating the New Year together, so we came near to them to celebrate with them. We ate, laughed, played and told stories; was a great night. When we were going, one of the indigent that we accompanied got up and approached to me; he told me that I was a very good man and that I deserved good things, and when he finished to told this, he took his jacket and he gave it to me. Was a new jacket. I thought a lot of things but I felt it was better to received it. When I arrived to my home I thought in this entire situation that happened and I felt very good. I understood that sometimes people that with don’t expect and with little actions can surprise you and make you feel happy.

Reflection: These were the last 3 paragraphs that I wrote and now was very simple to write it because I know everything of punctuation, grammar and vocabulary, and  the writing process and these rules have helped me to write a presentable paragraph.

The big house

Description:

The  family is composed by six people; parents,  grandparents, and two children.

They live in a big, detached, two storey house that is painted on the outside in grey colour and the left wall has a ceramic rock shape. In front of the house we can find small stairs that take you to the front door, which is decorated with flowers and some trees and it is surrounded by grass and it has a big garage on the right side.

On the first floor we have a beautiful entrance and next to it we found a small bathroom and the sitting room to welcome guests, next to it, we find a big  dining room where the family enjoy having breakfast, lunch and dinner.In front of the dining room we have the washing room. Next to the washing room and the dining room we can find the kitchen and the big living room. On the second floor we have a corridor that connects to six rooms, on the right side we have two bedrooms, those are; the marital room, where the grand parents sleep,and the big marital room that is connected with a big bathroom where the parents sleep, and between them is the resting room. If we walk on the same corridor in the middle we can see a small bathroom and on the left  we can find two more bedrooms; girl’s bedroom, and boy’s bedroom.

Sitting room: Marisel

On the first floor of the house there is a small living room with creamy, beige coloured walls which connects with the dining room. Next to the white ceiling, there are two small windows, each of them half covered by a tiny, dark brown curtain. In the middle of the wall, there are two paintings that are above a white sofa decorated with four cushions.At both sides of the sofa there are two round and tiny tables with a white lamp on each one.On the right sideof the table you can see a picture frame on the top section and on the section below some books on it. In  the center of the room there is a round shaped coffee table with two black vases on it and in front of the sofa are two comfortable red couches that are perfect to welcome guests.

Dining room + washing room:  Analia

On the other side we have the dining room. It has on the left side a creamy, beige colour wall and there is a picture on it, and next to the picture there is a window with a tiny, dark brown curtain. In front of the table there is another wall that has a different color, which is wine red. In front of it, there is a green plant and a picture, and between of them there is a brown cupboard. In the middle, we have a large, brown, wooden table with six chairs. On the table there is a little tablecloth and there are two chandeliers with red candles. The ceiling is white and there is a lamp hanging from it. This room is made for having a good time with the family, for example eating, having breakfast or dinner.

Next to the dining room we find the laundry.The walls of the laundry has a colour  creamy beige also and this room  has two washing machine, two white doors and has a brown furniture.

Kitchen: Simón

The kitchen is directly connected to the living room without any wall.

Though there is a small table with four chairs between the two rooms. On the table are some orange flowers.

Coming now to the kitchen, we can observe that in its big area stands a kitchen countertop that has a red plate with some decorative balls on it, which are white and black.

Facing the kitchen frontally, we can divide it in two sides. On the left side is the metallic shining fridge that consists of two sections. Next to it are another two cupboards with a timer, some condiments and other working tools on it.

On the right side are some more cupboards. The dishwasher is nearly in the middle of them, facing a window. We can also see some spices and bottles next to the dishwasher.

At the back of the kitchen we can find the silver-looking cocker next to some cupboards, build of an oven and a gas-cooktop. Above it is a small microwave in the top shelves. At the left are two containers, made of glass. In the left, back corner we can perceive a door. Behind it is probably a larder, where you can store the alimony.

The whole kitchen is populated with many storing shelves on the top.

Entirely the kitchen transmits an organized and clean impression. The brown wood used for all the pieces of furniture harmonizes perfectly with the silver, metallic appliances and the marble boards. It is also very well illuminated by the small, round lights which are attached into the ceiling and the three armed lamp above the little table.

Big livingroom: Carolina Rivera

The big living room is located next to the kitchen, and between them there is a small wooden table with four chairs and a vase on it.This part of the house is all covered by a white carpet and has light green walls. Entering to this area, we can notice at its left part a brown wooden fireplace located between two big windows, which is surrounded by some china vases. On the fireplace there is a small plate with certain decorative balls, and above this there is a medium size plasma TV. Next to all of  this, we can see a white armchair with a little cushion on it. Behind the armchair, there is a lit lamp and at its right there are two beautiful black decorations.

Now, if we turn to the right we will see a small tree next to a little wooden table with a portrait, a lamp and some books on it. Continuing, we will found two big brown couches with some striped cushions on them. They are separated by a piece of furniture with a lamp, a plant and some candles on the top of it. In the wall behind one of them are two pictures of flowers and a square mirror with golden edges. In the center of the living room there is a coffee table with two big, black, nut shaped decorations.

In general, this room has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, ideal for doing relaxing activities like reading, watching TV, etc. or for having a nice evening talking and sharing with your family and friends.

Bathrooms: Dani

Dinosaur room: Dwan Miranda

Out of the bathroom, you are allowed to see a corridor, the stairs and a plant next to it. Walking upstairs, the first thing that we see is a small, colorful room with white and red walls.  There’s a big window next to the bed which has a blanket ,a pillow and a cuddly toy on it. In the wall, where the headboard  is supported, we can see a few letters that form the name “Zack” and, near to that , a big picture of a colorful dinosaur. Beside the bed, you can see a bedside table with a lamp over it. At the feet of the bed, on the floor, there’s  a box with toys in it. In the left wall, that is next to the window , you can see a handbag that has the shape of a green dinosaur. And finally,on the floor next to the bed, we see red ball and another pillow.

Girl room:   Karen Badilla

Getting out of the boy’s room , on the left , we can find the girl’s bedroom  . This room has the characteristic of not having door and medium flats walls in orange with two large windows without courtains. between of one of the windows we have a shelf in which a bag is hanging on there and for the other part a beautiful picture . then we have a large bed with a colorful bredspread and two big pillows, between of the bed there are two small nightstands with a medium lamps and small photos. In front of the bed we have two more  frames one of them it’s like a picture to put notes and next of that other small picture . you may notice a big white desk accompanied with a green chair and on the desktop there are copybooks with beautiful colors . In general this  room looks very comfortable and when you enter can produce a good feeling.

Marital room : Nicolás

This spacious room is located next to the resting room. Inside it, there is another smaller room with many hangers and brown pillows; here you can store clothes, sheets, blankets, pillows, etc. The walls are white and in one of the them there is a window.

The marital room has brownish walls and a white door, there is a big window and a smaller one, and on the main wall there are pictures next to the small window. In the middle, it’s located the marital bed; on it there are a lot of pillows, It seems to be a very comfortable bed. In the corner of the room ,between the windows, there is a plant and a night table with pictures and a night lamp on it. On the other side of the bed there is another night table with some books and a lamp. Next to the front door there is a wardrobe with many things on it. The floor is carpeted and it’s look to be very comfortable. The furniture of this room are made of wood and their color are dark brown.

In general this room look very spacious and very comfortable.

Resting room: Nicole

This part of the house is united with the marital room. It isn’t a very big space but it has its comforts and it can be used as a playroom. The color of the room is the same as the marital room, a brownish almost yellow color with a white ceiling. Starting with the left part of the room we can see a big chest of drawers that occupy all that corner. It is filled with squares of a variety of colours and those, at the same time, are filled by all kinds of toys of different types and colours as well. At the top of that piece of furniture there are three pictures of animals that give life to the place. Focusing on the central part, we can see that again there are three rectangular pictures of animals just in the middle of the wall, and down those pieces of art there is a trash can. Now, finishing with the right part of the room, we can see a beautiful oval lamp that lights the space and just next to that lamp, two red comfortable armchairs that are perfect for resting.

Big marital room: Rodrigo.

This room has plenty of space. The marital bed is located in the middle of the room, that has a brown frame and a flowered bedspread, there are some coloured cushions on the bed. Next to the bed there are two big windows and in front of each of them, the brown bedside tables. The left bedside table has a lot of thing on it like a lamp , and a flower. The right one has a lamp and a photo on it. Above the bed there is a large picture of orange trees , and this picture is on a dark crimson wall, that is the only wall painted in this color. In front of the marital bed there is the brown make up table with flowers, books, vessel and a stylish lamp on it. We have two things next to this furniture: in the left side we have a  brown leather personal sofa with a cushion, and in the right side we have the white frame entrance , that hasn’t a door. The brown chest of drawers has a crimson lamp, a brown bowl and two family pictures on it. Near to this drawer we have the hall  with the closet that has plenty of room. We can say that this room has a lot of room, because there are many things in it and they are not one next to another, there is enough space between the furnitures, and it’s very well organized.

Reflection: Writing this text I learned to work in group because I saw diferents points of view of grammar and vocabulary. Also I learned to look the small details of a picture. It was a very easy work because I had a excelent group and everybody helped to everybody and that made very easy everything.

A night Owl

I like the nigth because I don't like the sun...One day I herad that the best things happen at nigth and I think that is rigth. When I think of the morning, I think about classess, chores, noises and a lot of things that I don't like so much and is diferent when the night comes to my mind... Peace, without noise, starts, wind and a lot of good things take me to a special place in my mind for a little moment for myself. I can do everything I want, like going outside with my friends to enjoy in their house, stay with my girldfriend and watch movies, play computer games with my brothers and a lot of activities that make me feel happy, but the best thing that I can do is staying in my room just thinking, without noise, all in peace. A lot of fun activities come to my mind when I think about the night. just try to improvise and get fun.

  

Reflection: This was my first paragraph and was very difficult to write it because I didn't know anything about the writing process or the topic sentence so everything was disordered. This paragraph helped me to know how to write correctly and in very clear way.

My brother Marcelo

Marcelo is a very important person in my life. I love my wonderful twin. He is 20 years old and the thinest of the family. He has brown, short, straigth hair and small, green eyes. When he smiles his big, white teeth appear and make a perfect match with his nose. He looks like a soft person but he is very strong. He has a white skin and a very short ears.His big hands are always wet. I said that he is the youngest because I was born firts. My little brother... I really appreciate him.

My brother is the most kind person in the world. He always make us laugh and sometimes when he is sad or angry, he makes us feel bad with bad words that he says. I admire him because he is a hard-working person and very honest. I thing that he is a very special man in this world. He likes going to the church every Saturday and I love that because we enjoy together with friends and the mass.

Her wants to be a cooker and I think the same because he cooks very well, in fact he is the best cooker. Recently he is very sick. I hope he becomes better...I love him so much and I am very grateful of all the happines that he gives to the family. I really admire him.

Reflection: This was the second paragraph that I wrote and I learned that before to write the paragraph you have to follow a series of different steps like the braindstorming, the first draft, revise the writing, editing, etc.

I also learned about the topic sentence and the important that  it is in a paragraph because is the main idea and everything is about the topic sentence. It was dificult to write because before I know all this things I was writing disordered.

“El indigente”

Todos los viernes solía repartir café a las personas con situación de calle. Era un servicio que me gustaba hacer bastante y sobre todo en las fiestas de navidad y año nuevo porque había un recibimiento más afectivo de parte del indigente.

Recuerdo que el año pasado salimos a repartir café como siempre; teníamos todo tipo de comida, desde pan hasta comida china. Comenzamos por el sector del Morro y avanzamos hasta llegar al sector de Baquedano y ahí fue donde encontramos un grupo grande de esos “hermanos” que estaban celebrando su año en conjunto, así que nos acercamos y compartimos con ellos. Comimos, reímos, jugamos y contamos historias; fue una gran noche.

Cuando ya nos íbamos, uno de los caballeros que acompañábamos se levantó y se acercó a mí; me dijo que yo era un gran hombre y que merecía buenas cosas. Y al terminar de decir esto, se sacó su chaqueta y me la regaló. Me pregunté por qué en mi mente y sentí que era mejor recibirla.

Al llegar a mi casa pensaba bastante en todo lo que había pasado y me hacía sentir bien. Entendí que a veces las personas que uno menos espera y con pequeñas acciones pueden sorprenderte y hacerte sentir feliz. 

"El Muro"

Uno de los lugares más tranquilos para mí es "El Muro". Es una pared grande y larga hay gran cantidad de dibujos relacionados con las profundidades del mar como por ejemplo, peces, tortugas, algas marinas, etc.

El lugar es llamado "El Muro" pero en realidad no es sólo un muro, sino una calle por donde transitan y se estacionan autos.

Esta calle tiene un muro pintado, bancas de maderas, postes de luz, vereda, estacionamiento y una hermosa vista al mar.

En esta foto se puede ver que en su parte izquierda se ve el llamado muro, con muchos colores. Mirando, se puede apreciar que en frente del muro está la calle por donde transitan los autos, los que se estacionan con vista al mar. En el centro de la foto se observan las bancas de madera, donde cada dos bancas hay un basurero y un poste de luz también de maderas. Las bancas están ahí para que las personas que lleguen a este lugar puedan sentarse y disfrutar de un hermoso paisaje y sentir la refrescante brisa marina.

Al costado derecho de la foto se ve la vereda, por donde la gente transita y se mueve con libertad.

La atracción principal de este lugar, en mi opinión son las bancas del muro, porque le dan un aspecto más natural al lugar y combina muy bien con el ambiente marino. Es un buen lugar para pensar y relajarse. 

Descripción Psicológica

Constanza es una mujer callada, pero a la vez directa. Es conocida por su forma de defender sus ideas, con voz firme, segura y fuerte; no le gusta que la contradigan y tampoco que la corrijan.

No es muy sociable, por lo que le cuesta integrarse a grupos, pero cuando logra tomar confianza, se convierte en una persona cariñosa y fiel.

Le gusta complacer a sus familiares comprándole lo que necesiten.

Es fanática del tenis de mesa y entrena varias horas al día, porque uno de sus sueños es llegar a ser profesional. Luego de entrenar pasa la noche pasa la noche con sus amigos para quitarse el estrés del día, tomando y comiendo alimentos de su gusto y así logra relajarse.

No le agrada la gente mentirosa y menos la discriminación porque dice que todos merecemos ser tratados de igual manera. 

Ella está entusiasmada en terminar su carrera para poder llegar al extranjero, después casarse y poder formar una linda familia.

Su familia le enseñó a nunca rendirse y a ser siempre valiente en todas las circunstancias; esos valores los tiene bien presente.
